I recently finished up a year long series of psychology classes at Stanford University with Kelly McGonigal, a health psychologist and yoga instructor I have followed and admired for years. Strike a pose… Cyclists!

As my fellow cyclists and I prepare to ride from SF to LA, yoga breaks (along with food, water, and bio breaks) are a must.   Why Yoga?   Incorporating basic yoga poses and principles like forward bends, twists, glute/hammy stretches, breath, and mindfulness can give you and your body a boost to go that extra mile. Eat before you’re hungry…. drink before you’re thirsty!

Short and sweet post before I head out for my ride down to LA. One of the biggest lessons I have learned over my last 5 months of training is this: eat before you are hungry, drink before you are thirsty. DUH! Yes, it seems like a no brainer but when life gets busy, training gets longer, and you get lazy, this simple rule gets pushed to the back burner.
