I’m a little excited that Spring is officially here. Today (March 20th) marks the first day of Spring, it’s also the International Day of Happiness. and to top it off it’s Friday. TGIF!!!
It’s no coincidence that the first day of spring shares it’s date with the International Day of Happiness, Spring marks the beginning of longer days and shorter nights which means more sunlight.
And with light comes activity.Have you noticed that all of nature has an extra pep in its step as of late?
The trees are blooming, creatures are coming out of hibernation and humans are shedding their layers to be kissed by the sun. Happiness is in the air, all you have to do is choose it.
The Spring Equinox has many meanings but the one that resonates most with me is BALANCE. Today, there will be equal amount of light and darkness, it is a reminder of the delicate dance of oppositions that is always occurring in our lives. When we stay present in this dance we create balance in our lives and are in harmony with all that surrounds us. This harmony propels us forward towards transformation.
How do you stay present in this dance? You choose to do so. It sounds so simple but in reality choices are difficult. I don’t mean choosing what to eat for dinner, but rather the big, hairy, hard choices that will change the course of your life. When you don’t choose, you allow someone else to choose for you. The only place you can choose from is the present moment, not the past and not the future.
Springtime is all about being in action, and a big part of action is choosing. Take time today to create a space from where you can make these choices. Can you guess what one of the major sources of unhappiness is??? I’ll give you a hint… It starts with an S and ends with an S.
STRESS.
This is the reason that I developed The 21 Day Stress Detox. I believe everyone can and should be happy! And when given a choice most would choose to be happy. Unfortunately being overwhelmed and stressed out makes us feel like we don’t have a choice. The good news is, the choice still exists! It’s just hidden under some layers of crap that needs to be cleared out.
Springtime is all about being in action, and a big part of action is choosing. Take time today to create a space from where you can make these choices. There is a natural urge to clean things up hence the term “spring cleaning”. But why limit the cleaning to your external environment?
I invite you to do some “mental spring cleaning”, take an honest, deep look at the “muck” you may have accumulated during the winter hibernation – judgements, criticism, failures, hurt, pain, etc. and choose to let go of what no longer serves and supports you in this present moment.
From this clearing, create an intention for yourself and decide what seeds you will plant this springtime. Going forward focus on these seeds, nurture them, and stay present to them each day.
There will be many many many bright shiny objects that will try to distract you from tending to these seeds and when those come along, choose to stay present in your dance. When you are operating from the present moment you can make choices and take chances that will keep your dance alive.
P.S.
Today is the LAST DAY, YES, THE LAST DAY to register for the Spring Edition ofThe 21 Day Stress Detox and I want to make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity.
Clear away your hidden stressors, develop a mindfulness practice that works for you, and join me in the happy dance!!!
