Monday Meditation

I spent all weekend at my cousin’s wedding dancing, singing, laughing, and eating (lots of eating). Indian weddings are week-long functions that consist of lots of family, lots of food and lots of fun. I had a great time but as an analyst and wellness coach I couldn’t help but observe, reflect, and analyze the how’s and why’s and what’s of the weekend. I watched everyone eat mindlessly, including myself, and sat around talking about the mindless munching. Food in the form of sugar, salt and dough put together in some combination and balled together or fried was served forContinue Reading >>

Monday Meditation: Keep on moving

Summer is here, what are you craving? If you’re like most primal beings you naturally crave more fresh and raw foods. These foods have a cooling effect on the body. The lightness and high water, fiber and vitamin content work together to act as our internal air conditioning during these warm months. At this time of year we also need less dense, high-energy food because we get so much energy from being outside in the fresh air and sunshine. There is no better season than summer to have fun creating your own fresh, tasty, creative salad combinations. By simply tossingContinue Reading >>

Ancestral Wisdom: Summer Solstice

(Post ALC 11 picture in serenity)   Today is one of my favorite non holiday holidays – Summer Solstice. Although it’s not an official holiday, cultures and countries all around the world celebrate the significance of today. As more and more people begin to embrace and explore primal living let us not forget the ancient wisdom that guided our ancestors lied in their connection with nature. So why all the hoo-rah around the longest day of the year? To get some insight let’s explore how and why ancient cultures celebrated this time. The summer solstice is the time of yearContinue Reading >>
