Hungry for change???

If you haven’t yet seen the movie Food Inc. add it to your Netflix queue. This movie presents the reality of our current food industry and provides some shocking facts about what we eat. Some people stopped eating meat after watching this movie but for most it will make you think twice about where your food comes from. When you walk through the grocery store it appears that there are a million food producers out there somewhere but in reality there are only a handful and they mass market their food and slap one various labels which only makes themContinue Reading >>

I was asked a question about the nutritional value of mushrooms, so I poked around for some facts… The mushroom is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, sounds yummy huh. Although mushrooms are often thought to have little nutritional value and in some medical systems are considered to be energy sucking due to their fungus characteristic, some varieties are actually packed with valuable vitamins. It started with an introduction of various wellness groups in the Bay Area, and followed with a lecture by Prof Adiel Tel-Oren (Dr. T). Dr. T is a holistic scientist, and discussed the health challenges people face, and ways to “free” yourself from medicines, chronic disease, and aging. I was hoping for more specifics; however he did make a few points that I found interesting: Genetic Lineage and Epi-Genetics – He explained that while there are 25,000 genes in the human genome, there are thousands,Continue Reading >>

With the Paleo challenge well under way, some of you might be wondering “What happened to Zoleo?” Zoleo hasn’t gone anywhere! In fact, as part of living a healthy lifestyle, it’s important to experiment with new ideas and paradigms, to see if they work for you (or not). This Paleo challenge is for us to experiment what happens when we don’t balance or measure at all, and eat strictly paleo foods. After 30 days, we’ll evaluate how we look, feel and perform. It’ll be interesting to see how it compares to Zoleo. Here’s what I ate yesterday (I’m stillContinue Reading >>
